I FEEL LIKE A GHOST IN A WORLD THAT IS FADING
FULL NAMEKivani Perlouski (Key-Vahn-nee Purr-Louse-Key)
NICKNAMESKi
AGEShe appears twenty-two, but in actuality, is about a century or so old.
GENDERFemale
RACEUnicorn (were-unicorn)
SEXUALITYAsexual generally. Sometimes someone might spark her interest so she can be heterosexual. Most of the times though, she's simply not interested in either gender.
POWER(S)Strictly to her race, she possesses the skill to heal with the touch of her horn, although this can drain her energy. But being healed from a unicorn can completely heal the other person, even extracting poisons. Other powers include healing if you drink her blood or cut off her horn and drink from there. It's been said that one can gain immortality by this, whether that's a mere legend or not is unknown. Obviously, she's avoided the latter of her "powers" and rather considers it a harmful characteristic to have sime people hunt unicorns. In addition to healing, she can sense purity--again a power adapted from her race. In her unicorn form, she is untamable and wild but will always be attracted to people of purity (only virgins) otherwise, she will remain unseen.
In her own power, she can shift from a unicorn into a human. Of course this is painful and once she decides on a form, she'll generally keep it for a few weeks unless it's an emergency.
HAIR/FUREveryone knows how well rainbows and unicorns go together, and is Kivani a rainbow when you see her. Her hair is a dark indigo, and depending on the light, can appear either dark purple or dark blue. Indigo's always a tricky color.
EYESIn contrast to her dark hair are light green eyes. Sometimes they appear as if they are glowing, but they aren't.
BODY TYPEAs an equine, her stature is relatively sleek and slender. She reaches just about fourteen hands high. In her human form, she's not much different. She stands roughly at five feet, though she tries to lie and say she's five foot two. Regardless, her body type mimics her unicorn form--sleek, slender, delicate looking, but with defined muscles in her legs and arms from all that running she does in unicorn form.
APPEARANCEHer appearance is like a delicate rainbow shining over an overcast world. The first thing people notice about her is her small smile always placed on her thin lips. Although she's a quiet soul, she knows how to spread happiness naturally. After all, Kivani is a very optimistic person, mixed in with reality of course. The second thing is her wild dark indigo hair that's filled and braided with odd trinkets. On the left side of her face are interwoven white feathers to symbolize purity, behind them are light blue colored beats and some charms to represent the water, an element usually associated with healing. On her right side she has various other charms and sea shells that she gathered at the island she used to stay at. Near the back on the right side, past all the braids and a few dreadlocks (lack of brushing) she has a few leaves braided in and a long deer shin bone to remind her of mortality.
It's easy to say that such a head of hair dominates the small head and frame it resides on. Her eyes shine with a bright, light green that contrasts her hair in many ways. Her face is small, angular with raised cheekbones and sunk in cheeks. Not because of her lack of eating, because she does eat like a horse, but because of her heritage that gave her extra high cheekbones.
The rest of her is closer to normal than the rest. Her attire is generally something she can move around in easy. To be honest, adapting to clothes was one of the harder things she had to get used to. She wears anything from leggings and a long, loose fitting shirt to a skirt and some sort of blouse. She refuses to kill anything since she is a herbivore and she's more inclined to heal than kill. She only kills when it is absolutely necessary and it's not easy for her to do so although in the long run, she has no problem with protecting the innocent or her own life.
In her unicorn form, her coat is what horse people would call gray although she would protest and call it white. It almost resembles a crystal because when sunlight hits, different pale colors can shine off. The most common is a light form of indigo or lavender. In her mane are still all of the trinkets interwoven and it's still just as thick. What gives her away as a unicorn is, of course, the singular horn that sticks out in the middle of her head. It spirals up and is about two feet long.
LIKESShe adores nature, loves purity, enjoys independence, likes water and its healing properties, and enjoys helping the wounded.
DISLIKESShe hates hunters, loathes small compartments and places, abhors wastefulness, detests over development of cities and towns, and can't stand impurity.
STRENGTHSHealing is definitely a strength for her. Endurance is also good, and her read on people is generally right.
WEAKNESSESHealing takes energy, so she cannot heal liberally. Shifting takes awhile, not as long as it used to, but enough to render her vulnerable for some odd minutes. Lastly, the fact that she's valuable to a hunter if they wanted a lifetime supplies of healing properties. She has to remain hidden for that reason.
HABITSOveranalyzing people is definitely a habit of hers. That and sometimes making equine sounding noises in human form. She's tried to work on the latter though.
SECRETSChanging into a unicorn is a secret she's kept for a century. Not even her mother knows that.
PERSONALITYYou could say Kivani stands for purity, for justice, for courage, and other admirable qualities. And, in essence, she does--it runs in her blood. There's very many sides to this were-unicorn though. At first she appears quiet and withdrawn. She observes people from afar and reads them carefully. She can determine if they are pure or if they are not. For this reason, she chooses to remain more of a mystery than a true friend to anyone. Perhaps she has a fear of commitment or trust issues. The fact is, she's lived a life of solitary and the past fifty years haven't done much help even though she can change into a human.
The other side of her is more fun. She's blunt, not holding back what she thinks. She enjoys helping people by giving them advice or healing them. When she's not in unicorn form, she can still heal, although the healing properties she has are not as potent as they would be in unicorn form. No matter though, she helps people.
More than not, she's what most would consider a "lone wolf." Her spirit is forever aching to explore, so to make herself happy and content, she moves around a lot, careful to not stay in one spot too long. She enjoys adventures and even engages in a little mischief like small little pranks and whatnot.
FATHERUnknown. Unicorns are known to live alone. They do not create herds like normal equines. Perhaps they would if they could--the numbers are so low--but perhaps it's that untamable spirit that prohibits them from joining up with one another.
MOTHERChivon. Kivani only knew her mother for a few years. She is a long forgotten figure although her stories and legends still remain. Approximately, her mother's age would be about two or three centuries, assuming she still roams.
SIBLINGSShe's bound to have other siblings, but since unicorns only have one foal at a time, she never knew them.
LOVE INTERESTSNone as of yet. She's not very interested in finding love any time soon. Kivani loves her independence and freedom.
CHILDRENOh, please. She's obsessed with purity, how can she have children now?
IMPORTANT FIGURESNature, if you would consider that a "figure" but she's very in tuned with the world around her. She's usually found in the wilderness if she's found at all. Trips into the actual town are infrequent and rare.
HISTORYIn the wide range of the mountains, she was born to her mother who helped her stay alive and helped in her growth of knowledge. Kivani enjoyed exploring--a hobby she still finds enticing--and usually got into trouble because of it. She knew about the hunters that lurked behind trees, they were old horror legends her mother told her as a sharp reminder of how quickly they would kill for her healing abilities. Whether unicorns actually possessed the ability to make someone immortal if someone drank from their horn was unknown, but the important fact was it was a legend and people would believe it, proven or not. Though the stories were frightful and she chose to stay by her mother's side more often, they didn't scare her completely away from being fiercely independent. It runs in her blood anyway. Once she veered from her mother's side, Kivani took off in a different direction, toward Zaida Island.
There have been many times she was in danger, but Kivani managed to escape. She also helped many wounded creatures, and has killed a few. Blood staining a unicorn's horn is said to be a bad thing, but unicorns stand for justice, and in self defense, Kivani had no problem using her horn as a weapon that mauled her enemy to death. She has a strong pride of life and although she's already lived a century, she has no plans on dying.
It was during her fiftieth year that the wind whispered some words in which she eventually heeded. With the tides of water being toyed with by the moon, she laid down by the edge and allowed the waves to lap up on her. The pain was searing, moving through her joints, burrowing into her bones, and causing her body to crack in horrendous ways. Through the entire process, she remained silent, but that might have been because for some moments, she blacked out from the pain. When she awoke again, she had a new skin, a new body, one that she had to practice to get under control. Walking on two legs was something hard to learn, but she managed to do it, somehow.
With this disguise, she traveled to places she hadn't seen, though she found it rather annoying when she couldn't travel as fast as she had been in equine form. For the first time, though, she was able to visit the city of Carvalo. It's been this way for about fifty years though now, while shifting from form to form still does hurt, she's gotten used to the pain and can shift much quicker than before.
