raptro
FREQUENCYUncommon, since they are sometimes hunted for their sickle claws or feathers.
APPEARANCERaptros are raptor-like creatures with smooth, sometimes scaly skin. At the hip, they stand at seven feet tall, but it often varies depending on gender and genetics. From the tip of their muzzle to the tip of their tail, they can be anywhere from fourteen to seventeen feet long. Their skin and eyes can be any sort of color and they always have symmetrical markings on their face and often down their back to the tip of their tail.Their bodies can be completely feathered, but usually they just have feathers on top of their head and down their neck and on the tail. Their most recognizable feature are their sickle-shaped claws on the inside of each foot. It is held up and off the ground and is used to slash and rip open their prey. Raptros walk on two feet and they have long arms with paws, or hands, that have three long clawed fingers. Their wrists are held facing each other and are almost always in this position. They have a large pubic bone they use to rest on, which is often mistaken for genitalia, causing one to think they see a male raptro, when it could very well be female. In their mouth, they have many sharp small teeth, which cause a lot more damage than one would think; they are used for ripping and tearing flesh to swallow whole.
ABILITIESphysically ;
Raptros are built for speed and have plenty of stamina.
They have strong sturdy bodies with powerful legs. Since they have such strong legs, they can jump about twice as they are tall, or even more. They can often use their hands to hold things such as small prey or nesting material. Their eyesight is impeccable and they are always looking at every little thing that moves. Hearing and smell are rather keen as well.
Raptros age the exact same way as humans do and often live to about 50-60 years old.
mental/magic abilities ;
Raptros are telepathic and know all existing languages. They cannot read minds and can only hear thoughts that are directed toward them. This can most definitely happen by accident. Speaking out loud to them is effective as well, even though they can't speak, only respond by telepathy. Most are as intelligent as the average human being, but some can be smarter or dumber. They are fast learners and can understand how to do something just by watching once or twice. With a little practice, they can perfect whatever it may be. They have a healing saliva that comes from separate glands than their "normal" saliva, so they have to concentrate to use it; it can be spat, dripped, or coated with its tongue onto a wound.
WEAKNESSESRaptros are not very adaptable when it comes to cold weather. Warm or hot climates are what they prefer and like. They find it much harder to move when it's cold, even if they are coated in feathers. They often seek shelter of a cave or anything like that if caught out in the cold; it's common to see groups of raptros snuggled up with each other, sharing body heat when it's cold. But it's not until they are in the snow when it becomes deadly. Their body temperature drops very fast and they will most likely freeze to death.
Telepathy is impossible until a raptro is five years old, as well as their healing saliva. It's unknown as to why it's this age and not older or younger.
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONA raptro can make a great pet or companion because of it's exquisite hunting skills and need for companionship. They will befriend just about anything or anyone that does not show any sort of threat or aggression toward them. Usually, they are found in packs or mated pairs; if not, then they are alone or with something other than a raptro.
