draca
FREQUENCYVery rare; almost entirely extinct due to being hunted.
APPEARANCEDraca's are mainly recognizable by large or muscular stature and red eyes, but they do not all have this build. However, it doesn't make them any weaker. In their dragon form, they are almost primarily black. The occasional albino is born, but white is the only other color they are capable of being. In dragon form, they range from six to ten feet at the shoulder. Their wingspan is easily wide enough for them to fly with themselves and quite a bit of weight. Many are even known to be able to fly while clutching another draca in their claws in order to transport fallen or injured comrades. The one way to assume a humanoid figure is draca is to look at their eyes; They are always red. They range from blood red to burgundy, but they are never dark enough to appear brown or black.
ABILITIESDraca can change between human and dragon form, though this is extremely painful as their bones break and change shape or size very rapidly. As such, they are born with an extremely high pain tolerance and can often endure more than others. They have an incredibly heightened sense of smell and, with practice, are able to focus it very clearly. When they turn 18, they gain what they know as “collective knowledge.” In other words, everything that their ancestors have seen and learned, they know. This doesn’t always happen in one go, and it is often spread out into flashes or seems to them to be instinct. They, obviously, can fly when they are in dragon form. Some have the control to only partially change, which allows for flight in human form as well. They are immune to certain human drugs like cocaine and chloroform, however they are also affected by certain spices in ways that normal beings wouldn’t be. They’re blood temperature is higher than average, and they have the ability to control their blood temperature while they are not sick. They pick up fighting skills quickly and are often best suited to be soldiers, guardians, thugs or assassins. They can also control the element of fire.
WEAKNESSESAlthough a chill in the actual air does not affect them due to their ability to control their blood temperature, water happens to be an extreme weakness. Until they get older, so much as a few drops on their skin once they mature can be fatal through hypothermia. Water that is warmed first to t least their blood temperature does not have this effect, though, and many draca enjoy hot tubs for this reason. Some things, which are spices for humans and most other races, act like drugs to them. Ginger, for example, both makes them high and is greatly addictive to them. A draca’s hearing isn’t really great, being on par with human hearing, or even subpar to that in some cases. They are rarely able to control their transformations until they are about twenty, and they can’t transform at all until they are eighteen. All draca are born looking human, so until they turn eighteen, they are just as vulnerable as a human.
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThey often are very quick learners of fighting techniques, fencing, etc. They were created in medieval times by an unknown ancient alchemist, who died shortly afterwards. Because of his sudden death, he was unable to finish what he had planned, leaving the draca a race with a constant bloodlust. Because of this, they were chained and let loose only to fight wars. Needless to say, they one day escaped and have grown up in various mountains since. Throughout the years, they've become more humanized in their emotions, no longer feeling only hate and rage. However, many were found and wiped out because of what they once were. Most draca act as the perfect soldier; very few are capable of the thought processes needed to lead or create. There have been precious few draca scientists, and all who are able to freely think on their own have since been recruited into the royal family in one way or anything. It has become very much genetic; those who are capable to lead almost always have offspring capable of the very same. Not that it matters much anymore. Very few remain in the world, and no one knows where they are.
