He supposed the more realistic view was that some people were going to be mean, or evil, and that was just the way the world worked, even though he'd like to think better of people, in general. The day where you felt safe enough to leave your door unlocked would be quite the day, indeed. Banez shook his head when she seemed surprised, "I mostly stayed in the city. There isn't much heavy-duty climbing to be done here or in the surrounding area." None that involved gear, anyway. Either you could climb a building after a thief or gang member, or you couldn't. Banez himself felt more comfortable covering on the ground. Okay, so clothes, water... All the talk of food was a bit surprising, though. Well, he never planned on scarfing meat down excessively around Kivani anyway, but now he had a better reason not to do it. When she mentioned eating bark, his brows raised, "Have you had to eat bark before?" He wasn't sure if he could eat bark.... Good thing it was summer. He wasn't so great with a bow, but he figured that he could make traps if he had to. Banez nodded, "Okay. Thanks." Or he could just bring jerky and be discreet about it, he figured. At her question, he paused for a few moments in thought. Well, there wasn't much to get together, considering her list. "No climbing gear or anything? If not, the day after tomorrow sounds good to me." He paused for a beat, "Do you have a place to stay?"

"Oh," she responded. Maybe she had an idealistic, almost romantic view of a guardian, who periled against the winds of nature. Now that she knew the real picture, which slightly dulled the imagination and adventure of a guardian, she understood that this trek might be harder for him than she originally anticipated. It would be hard for her, she knew, because she wasn't used to climbing up the mountainside in a human form. This wasn't to say she hadn't done it before, she had, but only in small sections.

Bark eating was common, mostly in the wintertime, but she had seen the plants scorched by drought before and she had eaten bark then. It came with being part equine; most humans didn't even think of eating bark. "Yeah," she responded, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "It's definitely bitter, but it keeps you alive." As for climbing gear, she shrugged. "If you want to bring some you can. Sticks or something to help you if you want. . ." Kivani found herself useless in this area of preparation. She assumed that she could get up with what she had on with a few shifts, although she hadn't figured out how that would happen yet.

"The day after tomorrow is good to me." A place to stay. "If you mean on our mountain trip, I have people that we can stay with. At least three, then we're on our own." She paused for a minute, considering the question could have related to tonight. "Well, not in the city, but I can just go back to the mountain. I'm sure I'll be fine there."
